The Surprise 2022 Angelversary Gala Hawk Release!
Cathy St. Pierre, from the non-profit WINORR surprised us all by bringing a rehabilitated juvenile male Red-Tailed Hawk to the Vanderbilt during the event to release in honor of Maggie. Cathy is our friend, has a huge heart, and an amazing family that have dedicated themselves to rehabilitating wildlife from Long Island, NYC, and beyond. Cathy has also been tragically affected by cancer when her 20 year old son Christopher was diagnosed with leukemia. Chris passed away from cancer on August 1st, just two short months after our event. We love you Cathy.
Team MM and many of our supporters came together to make 2022’s Angelversary Gala the most special and most successful fundraising event yet. Thanks to the over 310 guests who attended, our sponsors, and everyone who donated goods and services, Maggie’s Mission raised over $140,000.
The sky was painted a glorious pink, stars were out, the ever hopeful crescent moon rose in the night sky above the tent, and the signature MMoTito’s cocktail, donated by Love Tito’s were enjoyed immensely during Cocktails in the Courtyard! The talented roster of professional musicians who make up the Illuminate String Quartet from Luminous Sounds added to the magic of the evening by playing their modern repertoire of some of Maggie’s favorite songs.
Our dedicated Dream Team of Gala Girls deserve so much praise for going above and beyond to make the event possible. They were unstoppable! From Samantha Laterza’s incredible experience in event planning, wide reach of contacts, and determination for making things happen… to Briana DiPardo’s can do bubbly spirit and attitude, for making so many connections… to Joan Motherway, her inspiring amount of multi-purpose tapes, and her family’s hard work and dedication in helping Maggie’s Mission give back… to Janis Solotoff who came in and secured amazing raffles by pounding the pavement to help us offer an incredible array of gift cards, and experiences for our baskets… and to Margaret Tsopanarias and her husband, who pitched in to help. These incredible women managed to juggle their own hectic family lives and schedules to put in countless hours both before, during, and after the event to ensure it’s success. Thank you to each and every one of you and to our awesome team of volunteers for the evening - Natalie Pedrazzi, Jamie Wrede, Kasey Wrede, Danielle Trupiano, Kelly O’Keefe, Bella Argentieri, and Christina Ziccardi.
Special thanks to Maggie’s only surviving sibling who has steps up to the plate time and time again to help Maggie’s Mission grow. We couldn’t do what we do without you by our side. We love you with all that we are. Maggie did too.
